Our mini-straightener is made with Tourmaline and ceramic plates. Tourmaline plates give your locks a major negative ion boost. Tourmaline helps your hair glide more smoothly between the plates. The 0.5” plates heat up in seconds and heat is distributed evenly. The straightener features infared technology. This means the heat gets deep into the hair down to the shaft. Thus the hair is heated from the inside out. Less time exposed to heat and damage. Negative icon technology helps hair maintain its moisture.
A small flat iron is ideal for small tight curls. In order to achieve this look first comb out hair, spray with a heat protectant such as Alterna’s CC Cream prior to using your flat iron. Then divide your hair into sections, Start with one side of your head. Gather up the top layers of your hair, leaving just the bottom layer, and pin them back with a butterfly clip. Comb out a one- or two-inch section (the smaller the section, the tighter your curls will be). Start about an inch or two from the roots. At this point, you will basically just rotate the iron, and move it down the length of your hair. The direction you rotate it and the speed you move it will depend on the kind of curl you want.
For tight curls, hold the iron vertically, and move down your hair slowly (not so slow that you burn your hair, of course). Whereas if you want loose curls, hold the iron horizontally, and move down your hair more quickly. For curls that turn away from your face, twist the iron up, toward the top of your head. For curls that turn toward your face, twist the iron down, toward the ground.

You have a number of styling options with this device. Big curls, small curls, beachy waves-you can do them all with the Volume Curling tool. To get styling, first turn on your volume curling tool. Also Brush your hair thoroughly. Make sure there are no tangles or your curls won’t form properly. Your hair should be completely dry before you curl it. Blow dry any damp sections.
Apply a heat protectant to your hair. This product is usually sprayed onto dry hair. The heat protectant will form a buffer between your locks and the iron to add shine and prevent damage at high temperatures. Separate your hair into sections. Sections should be about 2–3 inches (5.1–7.6 cm) wide and there should be about three-four sections from the bottom to the crown of your head. Separate the sections using clips so that the only hair hanging has either been curled already or is the next section of hair that is going to be curled.
To achieve the beachy wave look, your curls shouldn’t be perfect. Start your curl several inches away from the crown. Spin your hair in the volume curling tool. Don’t worry about including the ends every time. This takes practice, do not be discouraged.
