Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus officially joined The Voice for Season 11 on September 19th. Keys and Cyrus replaced Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams as coaches. Fans were excited to see what this duo could bring to the table against top coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
Keys and Cyrus have also gained attention for their fashion and beauty choices which have been showcased on The Voice.
Keys is one of the founders of the “no make-up” look. What this means is that she doesn’t wear makeup in public. The goal is to inspire women to embrace their natural beauty. Many celebs are jumping on the #nomakeup wagon, most recently Gabrielle Union.
So the question for fans is how does she get her skin to look so amazing while not wearing any makeup? Her makeup artist Dottie told W Magazine. “”Alicia gets regular facials, does acupuncture and she eats healthy and exercises. She knows you have to invest internally for your skin to look great externally. It’s also about how you process your energy.”
Dottie shared what Key’s beauty routine consists of, “She might fill her brows with individual lashes or enhance her freckles with an Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer. She’ll give her cheeks a warm glow with Vita Liberata Self-Tanning Anti-Age Serum or curb shine with Mally Ever Color Poreless Face Definer Mattifier.”
And when she’s performing or acting as a judge on The Voice, she wears a little bit of makeup too.
As far as her hair goes, Keys is going all natural glam there as well. Here are some tips to keeping your hair looking its best. African-American hair is often susceptible to damage from styling, straightening, the elements, etc.
As fall is just around the corner, it will be more important than ever to make sure your hair is properly moisturized. Here are some tips to re-moisturize your hair like Alicia Keys:
Step 1: Grab your favorite moisturizer (leave in conditioner, moisturizing cream, spray mist, water). Try: Olea E-Shampoo & Conditioner. The Olive Conditioner revitalizes and regenerates dry and damaged hair. Its texture completes the shampoo’s action, regenerates damaged hair, dry, dull or treated thanks to its Natural Virgin Olive Oil formula..
Uniquely formulated with natural olive extract rich in Vitamins E to help protect hair from environmental damage. The Shampoo & Conditioner delivers significant antioxidant and moisturizing properties to provide luster and elasticity to dull, damaged hair. It makes the scalp and hair feel revitalized, soft and healthy.
Step 2 – 3: Working in sections (if the hair is long enough) apply moisturizer to your hair making sure to coat each strand. Then apply an oil such as Olea E Serum to seal/lock in moisture.
Step 3: Be sure to moisturize your edges and ends as well. They can become dry and brittle leading to breakage
Step 4: Twist, braid or apply any protective style of your choice. Nice moisturized, sealed and protected hair.
Step 5: Cover and protect at night with a silk or satin scarf, bonnet or pillowcase.
Step 6: When unraveling for styling, be sure to apply some butter or oil to your hair to undo any style. This way, you minimize the amount of frizz and friction caused. AND, as a bonus, you may get a few days worthy of rocking your favorite style!
Key’s fellow coach, Miley Cyrus has her own very distinctive sense of style. For the past several years, she has been sporting short hair. She talked about the transition from short to long hair in an interview with Byrdie.com. Her first thought when she made the change, “Girl’s gotta get some earrings, “Cyrus said, “If you cut your hair, you gotta go get your ears pierced. Right away. One of my friends, who has this really cool shaved head, she bought me a pair of big, gold door-knocker earrings the day after I cut off my hair. And she was like, “Watch, you’re gonna want these with the short hair.” People still mistake me for Justin Bieber—not with my Viva Glam lip on, they know that I’m a girl—but lipstick is good, earrings are good, just good things to remind people that you’re a girl. Because I get asked if I’m Justin Bieber all the time [with short hair]. Even though Justin Bieber wears very similar earrings to me.”
For short hair, styling, be sure to use a good moose to give your hair body. In addition to that, be sure to use Olea E Hair Mask once a week to repair damaged tresses similar to Cyrus’s. The Olea hair mask is natural, easy and very effective, especially for dyed and damaged hair. The nourishing formula gives your hair deep moisture and balance the PH of your hair which keeps the hair cuticle closed, making them shimmery and smooth. Our Olea hair mask increase the quality of your dry and damaged hair, creating the beautiful, soft, silky look you desire. Enjoy the natural relaxation treatment of our Olea hair mask for a long lasting gratifying result including shinier and stronger hair.
Cyrus told Byrdie.com that she is always looking for new hairstyles to try. “I had blue hair when I was younger. But now I’m scared, because I had one major damage thing where I bleached my hair and woke up with all my hair on my pillow and basically had to start over. That’s if you look at photos of me from like two years ago when I was bald. So I’m kind of scared to do that again. Because I know to do the colors you have to bleach, and I don’t know if my hair can handle it. One of my friends just did pink the other day. Pink is so cute. It’s my favorite color, and I would like to have it, but I don’t think my hair can handle it.”
